View my entire Falcon 4 Updates collection via FTP Note: some links on this page have recently been altered, but I haven't had time to test them all. All the files are still present via FTP. We are now hosting a mirror of Deuky's Photo Terrain v1.5 I've made an F4Patch file for easier installation On the horizonPerformance Tips:Do you get blasted by the menu interface sounds although you have turned the interface music settings to "off"? Delete the files in the falcon4\music\ folder and you will have a truly 'mute' interface. The sound files that are played for courtmartial, news flashes, etc. will also be removed to perform this step with caution! If you want to save ~200 MB hard drive space and don't mind missing the videos, delete them! They are located in the falcon4\movies\ folder. If the video files are missing and the CD is not loaded, then all of the cutscenes and intro videos will NOT be played at all. ToolsMadcow's F4control - Win9x only, doesn't work that well in Windows 2000 Madcow's F4ibc Nemesis' Screenshot converter to Windows BMP files Tom Waelti's F4Weather Weather Editing Program SoundsThere are WAY too many sound packs out there for me to keep track of! Here are some nice replacement F4 sounds
Airplane Art & SkinsLots of creativity is being expressed in camo selections and plane graphics. Provides a great facelift for the original dull boring graphics in F4. Check them out here Remember, you need the skin editor to use these skins. NOTE: The skin editor DOES NOT work in Windows 2000! It MUST be used from within Win9x.
New MapsThese are larger maps, some suitable for printing. These will fit in a kneeboard. Good if you like to have a hard copy of a map nearby.
Command-line SwitchesHere they are, ripped right out of falcon4.exe. Some have been documented (elsewhere), others have not. Use at your own risk! The "-nosmoothing" switch allows a more crisp response with the joystick - Falcon 4 attempts to 'smooth' a spiking joystick by default. This caused a sluggish feeling on the stick for some. This switch turns this behavior off to provide better stick response. The "-noloader" switch removes the "pie" loader screen. This screen hides the building of the objects in the Falcon 4 world. This may provide more rapid load times for some. The "-nopete" switch eliminates the pilot voice. This may be useful if you use voice command software such as Game Commander or Game Voice. This may eliminate ALL pilot chatter in the campaign, use at your own risk! The "-nomovie" attempts to skip the intro movie. This has been known to cause crashes, use at your own risk! The "-ip" switch overrides the default IP setting on a multi-homed machine. Only useful if connecting multiplayer via LAN with a multi-homed machine.
