Prototype ConstructionI started with a Euro follower from a Bulgy black mag, which has the thickest of all the lips over which the follower is installed. Peened it flat and used it as a template to scribe onto the sheet metal. I used 26-gauge sheet metal for the prototype. Creating the Template. Looks kinda like the shadow of the Battlestar Galactica, doesn't it? ;) First operation - Cut the blank from the sheet metal stock, place on the stamping jig. Second operation - Create the dimples Third operation - First bend for the side and rear lip Fourth operation - Second bend for the side lips Fifth operation - Removal of the follower Sixth operation (not shown) - file the center hole square
Ready to test-fit! Fit on mag. Note - need to square off the center hole for the follower lug to properly lock up the follower. |
